Wisconsin E-Waste Laws

Wisconsin’s e-waste law, known as E-Cycle Wisconsin, was enacted in 2009 and fully implemented by 2010. The law requires electronics manufacturers to register with the state and help fund the collection and recycling of eligible devices. Residents, schools, and businesses can recycle electronics through local collection sites and events. A landfill ban on many electronics also took effect in 2010, reinforcing the importance of proper disposal. The program is overseen by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
