Washington E-Waste Laws

Washington State launched its e-waste recycling program, known as E-Cycle Washington, in 2006 and began operations in 2009. It is a full producer responsibility program that provides free recycling of key electronics to residents and qualifying organizations. The law prohibits covered devices from being disposed of in landfills or incinerators. The Washington Department of Ecology administers the program, while manufacturers participate in either a state-run standard plan or develop their own approved independent programs.
